Somewhat ironically named after a battle that never occurred, Battle Ground is a rural community in the Pacific Northwest that clings fiercely to traditional American values. Having visited New York multiple times, Dutch photographer Marc Nolte realized that his view of America was incomplete. In this series, he seeks to understand what drove a more rural part of America in an important election year. The images tell a story of a place where everything looks exactly as it should, yet something unsettling is brewing beneath the iconic scenery.
